So this is it - our first blog post! We wanted to go ahead and get things going so those of you who want to keep up with us will have that ability.
For anyone who does not know, or who wants more information on the details of our internship, you are reading the right post. Lyndsay and I are participating in "Serve Abroad" through A&M Church of Christ (who also helps sponsor us). Our commitment is 10 months in Lima, Peru, from August 2011 to May 2012, where we will be working alongside a team of 9 missionaries and their families.
Our mission is to change and to be changed, to help others grow in faith and to grow in our own faith, to love with the heart of a servant even when we receive no love in return. We want to LIVE with the people of Peru, build relationships, and understand their lives by sharing our lives, our love and ourselves with them. We are headed to Peru ready to serve and ready to be extra hands for the mission team. We want to show people God's love by being invested in their lives and loving on them. Above everything, we pray that God molds these relationships to glorify His name.
God's work in our lives is exciting and we are so glad you've chosen to be a part of that!
We ask for your prayers, not only for our time in Peru, but for our time here as well - for our ministry here in Bryan/College Station and for all of the preparation we are doing.
